Thesis & Dissertation Requirements

This information applies to all Rowan students pursuing a doctoral degree or a master’s degree with a thesis requirement (or option) as part of their fulfillment for graduation. Please read carefully:

  • Students that have started their programs prior to fall 2010 but have not engaged yet in the writing of their thesis or dissertation must adhere to the standards and processes described in the (pdf).
  • Students that are currently engaged in the writing of their thesis or dissertation can either follow the standards and processes in place at the time they started their programs, or can adhere to the standards and processes described in the Master’s Thesis & Doctoral Dissertation Manual (pdf).

To help students with formatting their thesis/dissertation, we have created electronic templates for the preliminary pages. These templates are provided below, and are to be used in conjunction with the Master’s Thesis & Doctoral Dissertation Manual (pdf).


Electronic Templates for Preliminary Pages

All master/doctoral students, no matter when they have started their studies, must complete and seek corresponding signatures on the Thesis/Dissertation Approval Form. Once fully signed, this form is to be submitted to the Registrar for purposes of graduation. Also, and for purposes of archiving, students need to complete the Rowan University Library: Thesis/Dissertation Submission Form.
